Ok so not roadside. Just the parking lot at work. Fuel line coming down from the petcock valve ruptured in multiple places (old rubber). Had to slice it off and shorten it up. The petcock valve doesn’t work so I hooked up the battery overflow tube to the valve so that fuel wouldn’t spill all over. Still lost a bit. Anyway. Had just enough line to be able to get the line reconnected. After I get off work here I’m gonna see if they have extra fuel line. If they do I’ll just replace it. If not, I’ll run it gone as it is. I would like to clamp it but I’m worried of damaging the old line while pulling it off and having nothing to repair it. (I could cut off the battery overflow in a pinch and use it). I enjoy it though. Fixing stuff is part of the adventure of having an old vehicle.
Edit: will try to order a petcock valve tonight.

Most auto parts stores will not stock this size of fuel line. Go to a hardware store and grab some polyethylene tubing used for refrigerator water supply. It’s fuel resistant and dirt cheap. I believe it’s around .20”. The stock size line is 5.5mm (0.21”) . If you heat the polyethylene a bit it stretches over the petcock like a glove.

Reminds me of the time my (85) Jaguar got pressed into DD service when my left foot was injured, being the only automatic car in my fleet.
Blew a water hose a couple blocks from work one day, and patched it up well enough to drive to the store.
Blew another hose a couple days later, ended up fixing it myself in the Firestone parking lot since they couldn’t see it for days and I needed to get home. Fortunately a coworker was nearby and got me to a store for hose.
I’m happy to report all water and some fuel hoses have been replaced since then.
